Getting Started with HFOIL Airfoil CAD

Open HFOIL, pick an airfoil from the library, repair geometry, and export your first STEP section in minutes. Analysis runs in HENMESH and HENFLOW.

Hendoi TechnologiesRelated: HFOIL

HFOIL is Hendoi’s desktop aerospace CAD tool for 2D/3D airfoil and wing geometry. This guide walks through a first session — from launching the app to exporting a clean section. For aerodynamic results, hand off to HENMESH and HENFLOW.

Step 1: Choose or import an airfoil

Start in the airfoil library. Select a classic NACA section, or import DAT coordinates from your own design. Check that the trailing edge is closed and the point order looks correct in the geometry preview.

Step 2: Repair and inspect

In Geometry Studio, normalize chord, remove duplicate points, fair noisy regions, and orbit the viewport to confirm leading-edge smoothness and trailing-edge closure.

Step 3: Export for the suite

Write STEP, IGES, or STL for meshing and manufacturing. Attach a short note with intended chord, Reynolds number, and mission class so analysis teams inherit context.

What to try next

Duplicate the section, adjust thickness or camber parametrically, and compare shapes side by side in the viewport before freezing wing CAD.

Suite handoff

Export STEP/STL from HFOIL → prepare mesh in HENMESH → run campaigns in HENFLOW when you need forces or fields.
